Design of Permanent Magnet-Assisted Synchronous Reluctance Motor with Low Torque Ripple

Permanent magnet-assisted synchronous reluctance motors (PMSRMs) have been widely used in household appliances, national defense and the military, due to their advantages of low cost high efficiency. However, excessive torque ripple cause a series problems, such as vibration noise. To solve this problem, paper first considers important factor that causes ripple—the cogging torque. Firstly, generating principle is analyzed, method combining magnetic pole migration stator auxiliary groove proposed. On basis, considering position, width, depth, quantity shape groove, Taguchi optimize proposed improved structure. Finally, new motor structure can minimize obtained. Compared with original structure, reduced by 57.6%, 38%, electromagnetic only 1.6%.
